How disconcerting is it when you ring a friend and her husband answers, only to tell you when you ask if she’s there that they’ve split up and the lady of the house is out looking at flats.
Thank god it’s amicable (thus far). Cynicism? Probably. Judging everyone else by my own paranoid and argumentative standards again.
