Fatitude platitudes

Someone said to me when I started Slimming World that the last pound or so was the hardest to lose. After putting on a pound last week, and realising that I am obsessing about it, I decided to do something.
So I was reading the paper today and there’s a guy called Albert Ellis who pioneered Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy. Essentially, he had a fear of failure, so began making a pass at every woman he met. Some he won, some he lost, but the taking part was what mattered - and he lost his fear.
In the spirit of Mr Ellis I proceeded to eat a judicious three slices of M & S Victoria sponge: bugger the diet, it’ll survive a coupla slices of English cake. More than that - I’m not admitting to it on my food diary. Yah boo sucks to the diet police!

Good for you, that’s the spirit! And I firmly believe - based on The Science of Truce - that if you keep dieting strictly for too long, your body goes into ‘famine mode’ and starts hoarding calories to see you through… so eat a few bits of cake every once in a while, and fool it into thinking you’re not dieting!
Also, cake is gooooooood.
