Spring
March 23, 2007 by piereth
The 21st was officially the first day of Spring, and also the Spring Equinox, and for whatever reason I woke up with a load of energy and it hasn’t stopped since.
Husband and I have had one of our periodic ’state of the nation’ discussions and theatmosphere has lightened - several points which were opaque have come clear, and the path is a little less shadowed for the immediate future. He still has his big review on the 28th and the run-up to that has not been easy - tension between him and the directors culminating in a shouting match, but good for him, he stuck to his guns and really believes he’s in the right. He’s prepared to resign if he has to. Clearly, this concerns me greatly and I’m trying not to make my concern spill over so far that he feels influenced by it.
We haven’t been very kind to each other lately, and he’s right when he says that we haven’t had any time for just us since R was born. One night together, alone, I think, in a year or more. So we’re going to make more time for us as a couple and work from there.
On happier notes, it’s my birthday this weekend (34! Motherpussbucket!!) and he’s bought me a ticket to The Mercian Gathering, where I’m going to meet up with all my pals and have a right royal time of it; and a lovely necklace and bracelet set. We’re having a party at mum’s and I get a night off, woohoo!!

Blinking excellent news m’dear. I’m really glad for you both - a periodical emotional clear out is vital and a very good sign for a relationship’s longevity.
And may I wish you, my dearest girl, the very happiest of birthdays - I shall be sending you my love all the way from Sydney. I am proud and lucky to have such a friend.
Thank you, angel. You’re a darling girl and I don’t deserve you!
I shall eat my weight in chinese food and champagne on saturday night, to say nothing of chocolate cake, and go to bed and sleep the sleep of the tipsy and happy!
Glad to see that you’re making some alone time with your hubbie. My husband I and have a yearly “discussion” as well. It’s always productive and just gets us back on theh same page again.
Happy Birthday! 34 is so young! I’m going to be 40 in a few months … and you know what? Like wine, we just keep getting better. Look at Diane Keaton!
Enjoy your weekend!

Thank you my dear! Things are a little rockie at the moment but we’re talking and working things through - I think that’s the way to win! Actually, we’ve had some news about some friends today which made us grateful that we have what we have and each other. There’s nothing better than that.
