What a scorcher. Several gay chaps of my acquaintence were in ecstasies over the bronzed torsos and leather shorts but I wasn’t convinced. Theennnn, I actually went to see it and it is a diamond-sharp, balletic, visually mesmerising film. The story has been done before of course; it’s an honour tale, but the twist is - this is where tales like this orginally come from. All your derring-do in the 20th and 21st century-based films, where some cop helps his partner cause he said he would, yadayada, stem from this.
Plus, the filming, the bullet-time, the speed changes on the edit, the blood - I loved it.

Oh my god, I really want to see this. I love Frank Miller. And I absolutely love the Sparta/Thermopylae story. It gives me goose-bumps just thinking about it. And if you liked it, then I’m definitely going to go see it asap.
You gotta. It’s a bone trembler!! xxx
