Bank Holiday Frostbite + Darfur = Rant
May 25, 2007 by piereth
For god’s sake.
Rain, winds, inclement interludes, microbursts, fog and even snow have been forecast for this weekend. It’s June next week, what the hell’s going on? And before any smartass says, ‘global warming’, I’d mention that a) Bank Holidays are supposed to do this in Britain but it’s still disappointing and b) if global warming as a phenomenon was in operation you’d think a normally cold place like Britain would get warmer.
We’re due another ice age and geologically speaking it can’t come round fast enough. On a tangent, it needs to wipe out humanity to allow the way for a more kindly, more caring, altogether more human race of planetary overlords. I saw a disaster committee plea for aid for Darfur last night and it made me feel ill. Why, why, can’t humans band together and forget their petty differences? Why does religion cause so much hatred, resentment and cruelty, all in the name of God? Why can’t a country see the expediency in protecting its people above the calls on its political and monetary interests? Why are humans such bastards??
It makes me ashamed.

mmm, especially when you look back at Africa’s history - pre-C15th it was rich and important, with some really powerful, wealthy and culturally sophisticated civilizations (and I don’t just mean Egypt). The continent itself has vast natural resources to exploit.
White colonialism must take part of the responsibility for its decline and current state of chaos, but not all of it.
