Saving money is addictive

It is frightening, truly terrifying, how much money I waste every month.
I once worked out, that in my high rollin’ days, I was spending £4800 on petrol to and from work, and a further £5000 on lunch and wine - every year.
We’ve just had a closer look at our mortgage, and with the minimum effort, we can change and save £500 a month. Nursery fees - same story - we’ve discovered that the government run (a very poorly publicised) voucher scheme, where you purchase childcare vouchers from your salary at source and the money used isn’t taxed as income. Hey presto, £120 a month saved. I’m swapping the house utility packages and phone - that’ll be another couple of hundred quid a year.
We’re doing a car boot sale shortly, clearing the house of all the clutter and mess, all the unwanted clothes, child paraphernalia, furniture, jewellery and ornaments. The proceeds are going into the savings.
Husband is selling his classic car, which he doesn’t even drive, andis putting the money into home improvements.
Positive isn’t the right word for how I feel. Energised? Organised? Rich(er)? Decisive? Happy.

Brilliant. Just brilliant.
*makes note to do same*
I’m going to become parsimonious in my dotage. It’s such fun!!!
“classic car” thats the first time it’s been called that. Selling it so i can make nice garden/bathroom/etc for lovely wife and son
