Home Improvements

D & I were looking at our yard yesterday while nursing a cup of coffee. It really is the smallest, most uneven and stupidest waste of floor area. However, there is the potential to make a terrace, a really usable garden room, of 15′ x 10′. And who wouldn’t jump at a challenge like that! So D has measured, plotted and organised and shortly we will have a low deck in place of our useless concrete expanse. Flat, clean, useable, attractive and useful. R can have his toys on there. I can put a tree in a pot with fairy lights and tinkly windchimes hanging from the branches (welcome to my private New Age hell). We can have the BBQ and chiminea there. Pots of geraniums, you name it. So I’m happy.

Sounds fab. I can picture it now.
I intend to attack our back yard with a will in a few weeks time, too.
I may be some time….
Hack n slash or napalm?
It’s a displacement activity really - a substitute for actually getting grips with the garden part of the garden. On that front, I have decided to ignore the rear 75′ of the plot until winter. Good plan!
My husband and I are also thinking about renovations (to our home, not our yard). I may have to start blogging again to vent about it!
Looking forward to photos of your new yard!
Ahh! Nice to see you jenny! Well, I am going to post pix of this one, I think it’ll be a great addition to the house, I’ve been grousing for ages that we don’t have anywhere to eat outside, and I think husband got bored of the whinging!
Well, there’s a Fatsia which appears to be bent on world domination to be hacked back severely, plus an enormous old gum tree which I’ll need to work around (luckily they don’t cast deep shade). The rest is just weed and concrete and a fixed carousel washing pole thing which needs removing somehow….
