Well, actually doing slightly better than that! Quietly proud of myself - there’s no shortfall in service delivery (!) - in fact, I think things are going better than normal. I even went to the supermarket last night after work with the Mouse and got the weekly shop done. Never do that on a normal weeknight! By the time the phone started ringing, with lovely calls from friends, I was cooking my dinner and drinking a glass of red while reading Elizabeth David. The Mouse was snoozing in his lair, the house was immaculate with ironed laundry lined up in serried ranks, the fridge and cupboards were full of this week’s groceries - I’m in smug mode for sure.
Even Mouse waking at midnight and again at 5 didn’t faze me - I just let him piglet a bit and then brought him into bed with me. At 7am we were doing our usual breakfast mop-up watching Postman Pat. Off to nursery without a backward glance and here I am at work!
I hope this week continues this theme - I’m enjoying it, really enjoying it.
Tonight, my lovely friend Z comes to spend the night chez moi - cue huge pots of spaghetti bolognese and a bottle of red, and oodles of scurrilous gossip!!! Can’t wait.

Good! Have a fab evening, oink some spag bol for me!
Oinking duly completed, to say nothing of the large family-sized tiramisu split equally between the two of us!! A joyous thing to behold, and to partake of. Ummm!!!
My husband it out of town for work all next week. I am looking a little forward to the time alone after the baby is asleep I must admit!
Mamatried, there really is nothing like it. I have really enjoyed the taste of my own company this week. I hope yours is similarly relaxing! Although, I have found myself talking to myself - but then, I flatter myself I’m a good conversationalist!
It’s nice being alone sometimes, isn’t it? And sometimes having that break from each other makes you miss each other a bit too!
You’ve made me hungry - I think I’m making my favorite spaghetti sauce for dinner tonight!
I agree about the break… someone else said that to me also and it had honestly never occurred to me to take one!!
With this in mind I have today booked a ticket for a big moot and gathering that I missed this year as we were too tied up in domestic nightmares; but in 2008 I vow to go. Three days friends, frolic and fun in deepest Warwickshire!
