I always expect the worst to happen when I say this, but am I ever looking forward to Christmas. I can’t remember a time when I thought there was so much to look forward to.
Looking over this phrase it doesn’t really show the right spirit; I shouldn’t worry about what might happen just because I’m expecting a good holiday with few if any problems! I don’t know, the paranoia with which we pen ourselves in!
Truthfully, though, I am really looking forward to it. As an adult, you get used to being slightly deflated by Christmas; it hardly ever lives up to your expectations and it’s never as good as you remember it being when you were a kid. I think this is a shame. So this year, I’m looking at Christmas out of the corner of my eye, not making it the be-all-and-end-all. It’s a happy day surrounded by other equally happy days; the family will all be together, there’ll be too much food and too much wine and I don’t have to eat or drink too much of either unless I want to!
Having a positive state of mind is a gift and it’s easy to get into the habit of being negative. Time to change the way I do things to ensure I don’t see the downsides before the upsides become apparent.
