Frances St Clair Miller

I’m so insanely excited about getting my picture (read, ‘baby’) home from the gallery that I thought I would do something entirely illegal and post some other examples of her work.
Ms Miller, if you’re reading; please make yourself a website! Your art is quite the most wonderful thing and it makes Herefordshire and the surrounding countryside look so utterly beguiling and magical. I hope you don’t mind this slavish artist worship - I can’t help myself.

This is called ‘Elm Tree’. I love her use of colour and the washed-out appearance of the work. The shadows and dappling are exquisite.
This is ‘The River Wye at Builth Wells’. The richness of the tinting here is what drew me to this picture. Deceptively simple but layered with detail. Dreamy and restful but full of living elements.

My dears, just call me an arrrrrt critic!
Not very critical as it turns out. But I sincerely appreciate this art. I hope I appreciate it for what it is; the artist works with landscapes that I know and love and sees them with an eye that I could never have.

Beautiful work, the top one particularly. Excellent choice m’dear.
Maybe she’ll give you a discount on her work if you help her create a website??
Gosh, didn’t think about that…. *cogs start to tick*.
I have a real thing for etchings, particularly this sort, I don’t like chocolate-box artwork and this has all the good sides of that, the realism soberly rendered, the bright colour, the quiet subject-matter, without the tweeness and the pathos. Also I adore landscapes. And trees! I discover collecting art is truly one area where you just have to get what you like and not worry about the eventual value - ! And as I have now 6 original works I suppose you could say I had a collection. Better than handbags, not quite as good as Henry Moore!
I too love the top picture especially….thanks for sharing these.
No problems Mamatried… I only wish I could have found a pic of the one I’m actually buying but no such luck! This artist lady is waaaay too modest!
