Oh, the utter, magical and unremitting bliss of being allowed to read the Saturday papers from cover to cover. No ear out for the wails of ‘Mumeeee…’, no schedule, no deadline. No need to do anything, in fact!
We meandered around the shops, I bought the ingredients for a starter I’m contributing to a joint-effort dinner [...]

Christ, I’m Knackered

Whadda day. Audit looming. This week I’ve already drunk two whole bottles of Soave Blush and it’s only Tuesday. Actually, it’s Monday, which makes the previous line even more heinous. Fuck. This week started on Saturday evening.
You can see what sort of a state I’m in - Mr P is away recce-ing a shoot, I’m [...]
Hummocks

Great word, hummock. It describes a bump in a lawn that isn’t large enough to be called a hillock but will still rattle your dags when you drive over it on a mower. As a metaphor it could be used to describe parts of a life that are running less than smoothly. As in; ‘How [...]

Two words. NO CARDS.
I bought the cards, and the stamps, then decided no, f**k it, I’m not writing them. This was unbelievably freeing. It felt like the equivalent of flinging off all your clothes and streaking towards the sea on a Caribbean island. If that sounds implausible, try this. The presents are wrapped, and [...]
Wonderful Weekend

What a superb weekend we’ve had. We didn’t do anything unusual; just a series of lovely pursuits. Dinner with M and S, a large takeout curry from the Jalsagor (best curry in town!) and a series of attempts to play Wii Resident Evil 4 by Dom which made me expire laughing as he looked like [...]

SUCH great fun. I can’t even tell you! At 4am we had to put one of the Directors to bed cause he couldn’t see. Because he had his eyes shut. A classic night!

As this is the middle of the night for me I should explain!
We have been to L & K’s for dinner; a massive chinese, with chocolate cheesecake for pud, a bottle of Sierra Ridge, and three episodes of Dirty Sanchez. I nearly died laughing.
Hooray, hooray for friends like these! We are blessed.

Well, actually doing slightly better than that! Quietly proud of myself - there’s no shortfall in service delivery (!) - in fact, I think things are going better than normal. I even went to the supermarket last night after work with the Mouse and got the weekly shop done. Never do that on a normal [...]
Good food, good friends

Ah , there’s nothing better than the above, no?
Having a lovely evening, with Matt and Sian, who have graced us with their presence, and made our weekend very much more lovely than it would have been.
More later after another bottle of white and the remains of the cava!
Party Time!

… of course, as parents, this is junior party time, but it was a blast nonetheless. Jane and I made little seats, small burgers, we cut out bats, skulls and witches and I carved two pumpkins without hurting myself. A result!
Friends over, they have 3 girls, two of whom are under 3 so R was [...]
