I’m in bed, reading, listening to Radio 4 and podcasts, and teaching myself a much-needed lessonette in learning to notice when I’m ill enough to stay home, and then acting on it.
I aim to do nothing more stressful than the above today, interspersed with long snooze breaks.
Hooray for …. zzzzzzzzz…………

Feeling Weird (man)
Posted in Home, Sleep on February 19, 2008 | 2 Comments »
Woke up at 4.30 with a migraine and now am feeling distinctly iffy. Why does it always happen when you’ve absolutely no time to be ill!!? Husband is away tonight and periodically between now and the end of March. Think it’s my sinuses. That are wrong with me, not that’s making him go away! Oh, [...]
Half-Life of a Problem

So the night before last was an hour, last night was 15 mins and tonight was 4. Long may it continue.
He knows we’re not going to leave him, that we haven’t abandoned him; today he and I spent the whole day pottering, talking, laughing, listening to music, shopping, playing and singing. He has settled down.
He [...]

Well, tonight, he just didn’t want to go to sleep.
We did the usual, made all the right noises, fed him all the right cues, but from 7pm to 8pm he cried constantly.
This sounds like nothing - in fact there’ll be parents out there who are rolling about laughing that I even mention this. But as [...]

He’s been asleep for 8 minutes, and he’s been awake since 3am, and so have I; so by my calculations the meter reader, the postman or some feckin religious nutbar should come pounding on the door in about 15 minutes or so and wreck his slumber. Like Coleridge when writing Xanadu, I shall watch the serenity [...]

Well, I spent Christmas Day in bed!
It sounds romantic, and how I wish it had been… but no. A simple, unpleasant tale of sickness at both ends and a really, really sore stomach! I got up for two-thirds of ‘The African Queen’. because Katherine Hepburn always makes me feel better; but had two bites of [...]

R is suffering from one, he hates the fact that he can’t get any air in through his cute little button-nose. I had to bring him into bed with me again last night - at 1am I heard a wail, then ‘Mummeeeee’ so I went and got him. Poor thing was coated in snot, and [...]

Well, actually doing slightly better than that! Quietly proud of myself - there’s no shortfall in service delivery (!) - in fact, I think things are going better than normal. I even went to the supermarket last night after work with the Mouse and got the weekly shop done. Never do that on a normal [...]
all alone and actually happy

D has had to go to Crete, to help his grandfather; his grandmother died unexpectedly this week, so huge family drama; and Mother in law and husband have jetted off today to try to sort things out.
I am ok, surprisingly; I thought I’d be panicking but I’ve had supper, the house is bristol-fashion, the piggymouse [...]

Awful night’s sleep. The doctors want me to come off the pills, and it’s a struggle. I didn’t have one the night before last, and slept ok, but I had one last night and had an atrocious night, simply horrible. I’m just going to go cold turkey, bollocks to it.
Mouse also had an interesting night. [...]
