The bosses are both off sick today with flu. Luckily for them; they’ve given it to me. I am feeling like hammered s**t and not looking much better, by all accounts. Cough, cough, splutter.

ME!!

Sky+ installed today - it’s so infernally clever and cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.

I have managed to set it to record every episode of House MD for the remainder of the series.

And if you miss something important on The X-Files because Mulder’s muttering, you can rewind it and play it again.

Too cool to live long. This is, I realise, NOT cutting-edge technology for anyone but me. However, that doesn’t signify - I’m genuinely thrilled by it.

Gok’s Bak!

You can tell, cause there’s been15 searches in 2 days that have hit my blog about him!

How To Look Good Naked aired its first episode of the new series last night - required watching from my point of view!

Back to the plan!

Yes, back on the 5 meals a day, restricted treats and no messing around diet plan that was so effective for me last time. I actually enjoy eating this way, it appeals to my finickety sense of order and I know what my meals are going to consist of, more or less, so it’s one less thing to worry about! I only need to trim off 5 or 6 pounds to hit target again, so will just keep on truckin’ till I get there. Right! Time for some grapes and cheese…

Sitting here in my pyjamas watching Brother Bear, and eating toast, drinking coffee, and typing; every 30 seconds or so I get importuned by my youngest to play him a riff on his Swannee Whistle, an infernal musical torture instrument from the Early Learning Centre.

Now the grown-ups have taken over and the game has transmogrified into each of us trying to ‘play’ a popular tune and the other has to guess what it is. We’re 0 for 3 so far! Mouse has retired to his chair with Bobo the squashed hippopotamus and is deep in ursine drama.

Much better to spend Sunday mornings like this than by getting worked up over housework minutiae. I like it!

Nuff said, really - rolled over, turned off my alarm clock, lay there in comfortable stupor until I realised it was actually Friday and I was late up!

Just waking up now at 09:26hrs. NOT happy; want to go backtabed.

Lounging in the sitting room, drinking a glass of red with my feet up. Computer on lap, feet on footstool, all chores completed and silence from the Lair of the Mouse. Husband has gone orf to collect a large Ruby Murray, which we will eat while watching Lord of the Rings (because we’re sad, we’re watching all the Director’s Cuts in 45 minute segments - being unable to watch more as we need to be in bed by 9.30pm). Last night, Frodo and Sam had met Merry and Pippin and had narrowly escaped the Riders at Buckleberry Ferry.

I was thrilled to hear that Peter Jackson has asked Sir Ian McKellen to keep 2009 free… The Hobbit cometh!!

Attendance Notes

New SpaceCorps Directive at work - we are to account for every 15 minute increment of our time and fill in attendance notes, to be compiled monthly, and submitted at the end of every month. Aiee.

Some few teething issues, including a whole load of grollocks surrounding the formatting of the excel spreadsheet being used… and so forth :-)

This sort of thing can either be a huge help to a company or a massive hindrance. I dunno which this will be, save to note that it’s already caused some dissension in the ranks!

From my point of view, I’m amazed how much I can pack into one day. So, a sort of smugness confirmation!

Somerset - Perfect

Drove down to Somerset to see dear friends S & K, at their lovely new house. And to go to a lecture! A perfect day; I left Hereford in a right grump and feeling very unsettled and by the time I got to Somerset I was chilled out, calm and happy.

The acid test for visiting friends is; did you want to leave? I didn’t. Luckily for me, I’m seeing them again at the end of April, and this time for a whole weekend! Joy!!

Raining today…

… but that’s ok, because I dried my first load of washing outside this year yesterday; one more piece of evidence to support my theory that yesterday was the REAL first day of spring.

I’m glad for the rain; I slept better last night than I have in ages, which is always the case when it rains. I love the sound on the roof and it soothes and cossets me. It is a bit of a drag walking to the car but that’s the only downside.

I cancelled my private healthcare last night - freeing, and virtuous as it saves me £50 a month! That’s Mouse’s nursery lunches paid for. And really, apart from protecting myself against some future half-expected medical tragedy, I can’t see the point of insurance. We have a perfectly adequate free healthcare system in this country. And my life is extremely well insured so if I die (morbidly put) the mortgage gets paid off and there’s a lump sum in it for the survivors. So here’s to not wasting money on inconsequentialities.
